Floor time play
Puppet/Soft toy play
Sensory play
Object experience activities
Mirror games
Activities listed above are incorporated into both morning and afternoon
schedules and are programmed around each infant’s feeding and napping routine
Toddlers
An art project is usually done every few days. This may consist of gluing, painting, and for the older ones, cutting with scissors. The children really enjoy these creative activities, and they eagerly wait to see what the day’s project will be. It is very important to dress your child in fun play clothes as we do enjoy using the art area.

Children need to feel good about themselves! Positive guidance techniques are used to enhance a child’s feelings of self-worth.
Equipment and activities are planned and available to stimulate interest, meet capabilities and challenge children individually. I have created an environment which encourages children to be independent with the support of a caring adult.
I take a hands – on approach to learning. Through creative experiences and self-expression, a natural sense of curiosity and creativity will begin to emerge. My pre-school curriculum, is play based with a focus on themes to keep the children interested in topics that they are interested in, with a focus on experiences that:
Build self-esteem
Develop vocabulary
Encourage recognition of differences in sound, size, shape and color
Increase interest in books, numbers, people, and cultures.
Improve coordination
Introduce new ideas
Develop individual and self-help skills
The Learning Child Home Care is very focused on health and hygiene. I have disposable gloves on hand when handling specific body fluids. My hands as well as the children’s hands are washed several times a day with anti-bacterial soap. The daycare’s toys and equipment are cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis. All these procedures greatly help to reduce the spread of infectious disease. However, no matter how careful I am, the probability and reality of illness need to be addressed. It is necessary to institute a health care policy that protects your child as well as others within daycare.
If your child develops any of the following symptoms, he/she should be kept at home until he/she fully recovered. Your child may return to daycare after 24 hours symptom free or be seen by a doctor with a note indicating that the child is not contagious.
Temperature 100 degrees
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Communicable rashes
Sore throat
Conjunctivitis
If a child develops any of the above symptoms while at daycare, the parent(s) will be notified of the illness and may be asked to pick up the child. Sick children will be isolated in a quiet area of the daycare until the parent(s) arrive. I ask that pick up arrangements are made within 25/30 mins. After that I will call the emergency contacts that are listed in your enrollment packet.
****Please note: It is helpful to have reliable back-up for me to call if you are unable to make it within that time frame.
If a child is absent from contagions but is not feeling well enough to participate in the routine due to signs and symptoms of illness, the parent may be asked to take the child home until such a time he/she is capable of participation. Please refrain from medicating your mildly ill child prior to school, this will temporally mask the symptoms and expose the other children and the much-needed providers.
I require you the parent to notify me if your child has a contagious disease, so I can inform the other parents of the daycare.
If your child is seen by a doctor and is prescribed a medication, they must have taken the medication for 24 hours before returning to daycare,
TLc strives to keep germs at bay with handwashing, cleaning and sanitizing the learning environment frequently. All hands will be sanitized and or washed upon entering the program (hand sanitizer will be available at the door and at the sign in sheet).
If the child shows signs of any of the below along with a temperature, during the day, follow exclusion protocols and call the child’s parent/guardian to come pick them up within 25 mins of the communication.
Cough?
Sore throat?
Rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity)?
Flushed cheeks?
Gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting)?
Fatigue? (Fatigue alone should not exclude a child from participation.)
Headache?
New loss of smell/taste?
New muscle aches?
Any other sign of illness?
Although specific mandates have been lifted, EEC encourages daycare programs to maintain certain health and safety measures:
Please review and become familiar with the policies below, most of which have already been in place.
Child with symptoms/positive test result: A child exhibiting symptoms may not attend care. Symptoms include but are not limited to fever of 100 degrees or higher, cough, shortness of breath, chills, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, an excessive runny nose, headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, unidentified rashes, and muscle aches. The child must be tested (PCR). He/she may return to care after receiving a negative test result and being free from symptoms for 24 hours without the help of medication. Siblings of the sick child must also remain out of care during this time
Sick child: In the event your child becomes ill at care, child will be isolated from the rest of the group and must be picked up within 30 minutes. Siblings in care must also be picked up.
Property: All adults entering must use sanitizer when entering, please sanitize your child’s hands or encourage them to wash them in the sink upon arrival
TLC provides daily breakfast and snacks for the toddlers and preschool children. A list of lunch suggestion and “good snacks” has been compiled to assist in your planning. All food will be logged in Brightwheel daily.
